What to include in a ferry build brief
Prepare a useful ferry enquiry with contact details, route, operating waters, passenger capacity, daily duty and project requirements.
Set out the operating requirement
Begin with what the vessel needs to do. Describe the route, operating waters, passenger requirement and daily duty. Include vehicle or cargo needs where relevant, and any constraints you already know.
You do not need to choose a model before enquiring. If a vessel interests you, name it as a starting point rather than treating the preliminary specification as a final agreed design.
- Route, lake, river or coastal area
- Required passenger numbers and other payload
- Daily duty, route profile and constraints
- Layout, propulsion or performance requirements
- Applicable regulatory requirements, where known
Make the enquiry easy to follow
Provide your name and email, with your organisation and phone number if useful. Use the project message to explain the requirements that need discussion. Keep passenger, vehicle and cargo requirements distinct.
The enquiry form lets you send the brief to Africa Ferry or copy and download it for your own records. Copying or downloading does not send an enquiry.
Understand the next stages
Submitting sends your brief to Africa Ferry’s team. The published process starts with the operating brief, then concept selection and project definition before detailed engineering, build planning, testing and handover.
Africa Ferry is the builder/manufacturer; vessel designs are by KND Naval Design. Final specifications remain subject to detailed engineering and configuration. The enquiry starts a project discussion, not a promise of delivery dates or certified performance.
