Comparing passenger capacity and vessel size
Understand passenger counts, total complement, length overall and beam when comparing preliminary ferry and shuttle specifications.
Check what the capacity label means
Passenger capacity and total complement are not interchangeable. Total complement is the total number of persons on board, not a passenger-only count. Preserve the wording in the vessel specification rather than treating every number as passenger seats.
Where a capacity or dimension is not stated, do not infer it from the image or model name. Include the number of passengers you require in your enquiry so the requirement is clear.
Use dimensions, not model names
Compare stated length overall and beam. The model designation is an identity, not always the measured length: SHUTTLE 15 has a stated length overall of 12.3 m, while 17M GLADIATOR has a stated length of 18 m.
Length alone does not establish capacity. Review the arrangement, capacities, payload and configuration alongside the dimensions. Do not infer passenger numbers from a similarly sized vessel.
Keep comparisons like for like
The catalogue contains preliminary concepts and distinct configurations. Read each model’s notes and technical tables, then use its Africa Ferry data card to keep the same set of particulars together.
Separate the passenger requirement from any vehicle or cargo requirement in your brief. Final layout and specifications follow collaborative review and detailed engineering.
